You get a brass buddha small enough to rest on a fingertip yet finished with real care. The cast seated figure stands about 3 cm tall, its robe folds fanning outward to form the base itself — no plinth, no lacquer.

Patina darkens the folds and hair curls, while the face, shoulders and knees are rubbed back to bright brass, so light finds the figure's calm features first.

  • Cast brass seated figure, about 3 cm tall
  • Robe folds form their own base — no plinth needed
  • Darkened folds and hair curls against bright high points
  • No lacquer, no stand, just the figure itself

Set this brass buddha on a desk, windowsill or shelf and let its small stillness hold the space.

Product Info

Unlacquered brass, cast solid

Overview

Nearly all miniature Buddha decorations use resin with a gold-coloured covering. Their light weight, rounded edges and surface-layer finish show immediately when handled: the coating rests over the form rather than becoming part of it.

Cast in metal, this figure feels heavier in your hand than its small dimensions initially suggest.

Care

Use a cloth kept dry, plus a soft-bristled brush for dust in robe creases and hair curls. With no lacquer, the areas you touch grow darker. A little brass polish applied to raised details will restore their brightness if preferred.

Materials

An unlacquered solid brass casting, neither hollow nor glued together, with its raw cast metal surface visible underneath.

  • Measurements: Height ~3 cm, depth 1.5 cm, knee-to-knee width 2.4 cm, weight ~15 g
  • Surface: Darkened before raised areas are rubbed brighter — shadow remains in hair curls and robe creases, with lighter shoulders, knees and facial features
  • Footing: Robe folds provide a flat cast underside

Enclosed by a curled hand

Compact enough to carry

A hand closed around it hides the whole figure. It is solid metal, not resin with a coating, and tolerates being carried in a coat pocket. Its small footprint fits a sill or shelf edge without rearranging nearby objects.

Small but sharp

Clear features at a small scale

After darkening the entire casting, the raised surfaces are rubbed brighter. Hair curls, downcast eyes and robe creases retain shadow, while shoulders, knees and the face show warmer tones. The difference between those surfaces lets the features remain visible despite the figure's small size.

Simple form

A base without extras

Spreading robe folds provide the footing, without a felt pad, pedestal or lotus throne. The casting has a flat underside that rests evenly on stone or glass.

Dense and cold to pick up

What sold me was the weight. I have a resin one from a museum shop and this feels completely different — dense and cold in the hand. Sits on the windowsill above my kitchen sink and the light catches the face in the morning.

The face is actually modelled

At this size I expected the features to be a blur, and they are not. The eyes are recessed and stay dark, the rows of curls on the head are individually cast, and the robe folds run all the way down and out to the base. Whoever cut the mould did not give up when it got small.

Ended up in my coat pocket

Bought it for a shelf and it has quietly migrated to a jacket pocket instead. Nothing has chipped or rubbed off it, because there is no coating to rub off. It stands square on a stone coaster with no wobble at all.

Frequently asked questions

How large is it?
At approximately 3 cm in height and 2.4 cm between the knees, it fits unseen in a closed hand. A photograph shows its scale against an open palm.
Is it resin or metal?
The casting is solid brass rather than resin or plastic with plating. Lift it and the weight makes the material apparent. Underneath, the uncoated raw casting remains visible for inspection. There is no lacquer coating, so handling continues to alter the colour of the surface.
Will it stand by itself?
Yes. Folds of the robe spread around the crossed legs to create its footing. A flat cast underside rests steadily on an uncovered shelf, stone or glass, without a rocking edge. No separate piece is attached using pins or glue.
Does its finish alter?
Yes, that change is intentional. Handling gradually warms and deepens the brighter, rubbed areas on the shoulders, face and upper knees. Meanwhile, the robe creases and hair curls remain dark. To restore brightness, apply brass polish to the raised areas if you prefer.
